I was profoundly affected by my first float and knew immediately that floating would be a part of my life thereafter. Because there was then no place to float in Rochester, NY, my wife and I decided to open Bodymind Float Center in order to share the marvelous power of floating with as many people as possible!
As of September, 2013, we will have three float rooms. Each is completely private and contains a shower and all the amenities needed to shower and float. Two rooms will have Samadhi tanks and one a Tranquility Float Pod. Amenities include: soap, shampoo, ear plugs, petroleum jelly (to cover small cuts or scrapes), skin lotion, contact lens case and solution (if you forget yours), "primp room" with mirrors and hair dryers, complimentary filtered water and tea, and more!
We use Hydrogen Peroxide 35% solution, thorough filtration (with ozone added) between every customer, and - as with all float tanks - the sterilization power of 800 lbs or so of Epsom salts dissolved in the tank water. We use vinegar as the primary cleaning agent for surfaces within the float rooms and to clean the interior of the tanks above the water line.
Bodymind Float Center is handicap accessible. One of our rooms contains a handicap accessible shower and is sufficiently large for easy wheelchair access.
We offer a salt therapy room. Salt therapy is a time-tested folk remedy for all manner of respiratory ailments including allergies, asthma, cystic fibrosis, and sinus problems. Think of it as a "neti pot" for the lungs. It's great for your skin too! Clients relax during 45-minute sessions in comfortable zero-gravity chairs in the quiet and calming atmosphere of our salt room.
A float of up to 90 minutes is $65.00. Please check our website in September for details on package pricing and memberships. We want to make floating available to as many people as possible.
